Open Call for Papers

Dear Colleagues,

we invite you to send your contributions to another open (non-thematic) issues of Silva Iaponicarum.

We accept academic papers in English and Japanese from any field of humanities or social studies whose content focuses on Japan and/or Japanology. 

The length of the paper should be from 3,000 to 10,000 words, excluding the abstract and references.

Please prepare your contribution according to the guidelines outlined here, and send it to silva.iaponicarum.quarterly@gmail.com.

The next issue in line we are accepting contributions for is 68 (Winter 2022).

Prospective authors are asked to send their proposals, including title and an abstract, by May 31, 2022.

The deadline for sending complete contributions is July 15, 2022.

We are also accepting contributions to a thematic issue on Japanese popular culture of the pre-war modern era.

We invite you to send papers in English and Japanese concerning all aspects of popular culture (literature, film, visual arts etc.) in the Meiji, Taishō and early Shōwa periods.

The length of the paper should be from 3,000 to 10,000 words, excluding the abstract and references.
